Tig Wire TIG-Tectic 5HSS 1.6mm High Speed Steel
PRODUCT ENQUIRY
Description
Features and Benefits:
TigTectic 5HSS TIG filler wire designed for the repair or of M-class tool steels. Tig Tectic 5HSS is suitable for surface enhancement of low-alloy steels and has exceptional property retention at high temperatures. Tig-Tectic 5HSS is a rod version for more precise welding of more intricate tools & dies.
APPLICATIONS:
For M-series tool steels, particularly grade M1, M2 and M10. This grade, and the other grades, are noted for use in blanking, piercing, forming, and deep cutting operations. Weld deposits resist softening at elevated temperatures, have excellent resistance to tool contact wear, and have superior application toughness.
Typical Hardness:
62-64 HRC as-deposited
Typical Hot Hardness:
45-50 HRC up to 645°C
Soft Annealing Temperature:
790-810°C/ 2-4 hr/ 23-32 HRC
Hardening Temperature:
1215-1230°C 535-565°C
Preheat Temperature:
510-535°C when welding M1, M2 & M10 grades. For general applications a preheat of 100°C is suitable.
Inter-pass Temperature: 510-590°C when welding M grade steels.
Polarity:
DCEP (+) and AC
Machining:
The TIG deposit can be machined with carbide cutting tools & can also be cut by the plasma cutting process.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE:
Preparation:
Clean weld area of scale and/or oxide and degrease using VOC-free cleaners. Dye penetrant test to locate cracks. Prepare cracks by grinding so as to generate a “U” profile. For enclosed cracks without a terminus point continue the preparation some 1” (25mm) ahead of the crack. Preheat slowly according to the grade and heat treated condition of the tool or die.
Technique:
Start the arc by using impulse high-frequency or by using a copper startblock. Do not use a carbon block as this will contaminate the weld deposit! Deposit stringer beads. Do not weave more than 2x as wide beads can cause distortion.
Post-welding:
Parts should be covered with a heat-retardant blanket or placed in a pre-heated furnace for controlled cool-down.
Shielding Gas:
100% Argon @ 14-22LPM
Amps
70-150Amps
