This standard applies to rotating bonded abrasive products, it specifies requirements to eliminate hazards resulting from design and application. A product cannot achieve this standard without first performing tests and following procedures for verification of compliance. This standard applies to designers, manufacturers, and suppliers of abrasive goods. It guarantees that the item has achieved best practice on current abrasive safety standards, has achieved industry conformity of the respective machinery, and complied with the essential safety requirements of the machinery directive. MPA HANOVER In accordance with the legal accident prevention regulations BGR 500 and the “Equipment and Product Safety Act – GPSG”, the safety parameters must be fulfilled when grinding tools are placed on the market or operated. Manufacturers, resellers and users are responsible for compliance. European standards, such as EN 12413 “Safety requirements for bonded abrasives” and EN 13236 “Safety requirements for grinding tools with diamond or boron nitride” have defined legally binding safety parameters for grinding tools. MPA HANNOVER operates an accredited testing laboratory in which such safety tests can be carried out for manufacturers, importers or sellers, but also for end users. As the oldest independent testing laboratory for grinding wheels in Europe, we have been conducting safety tests on rotating grinding wheels for more than 60 years. Our accreditation in this field covers almost all current national and international standards and regulations, such as: EN 12413 “Safety requirements for bonded abrasives” EN 13236 “Safety requirements for diamond or boron nitride grinding tools” EN 13743 “Safety requirements for coated abrasives”.
